Preamble

M.Sc. (Computer Science) is a 2-year postgraduate programme designed to provide advanced knowledge of computer science, software development, computational theory, data science, and research methodologies. The curriculum integrates theoretical concepts with practical applications, preparing students for careers in advanced computing, research, and industry-level software development. The programme emphasizes emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud computing, cybersecurity, data analytics, and advanced programming.

 

Objectives of the Programme

To provide in-depth knowledge of advanced areas in computer science.

  • To develop strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • To train students in cutting-edge technologies relevant to the software and IT industry.
  • To promote innovation, creativity, and research aptitude for higher studies (M.Phil./Ph.D.).

Eligibility for M.Sc. (Computer Science)

A candidate shall be eligible for admission to M.Sc. Computer Science if they have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / B.C.A. / B.Sc. (C.S.) / B.Sc. (I.T.) OR
  • Any equivalent degree from a recognized university with foundational knowledge in computer science.
  • Students with strong programming and mathematical background from related fields may also be considered as per university norms. Lateral entries, repeaters, and students from equivalent backgrounds may be admitted as per the rules and guidelines of the respective university.

Entrance Examination Requirement

MH-M.SC- CET (Maharashtra M.SC(computer science) Common Entrance Test) is compulsory for all candidates seeking admission to the M.SC(computer science) programme under Maharashtra State
